Visibly powerful. Handcrafted from delicate Japanese glass beads, each chain tells a story. A story of women in Nepal who, through their craftsmanship, create not just beauty but independence. In the workshops of Beads for Life in Kathmandu, these intricate pieces come to life—shaped by precision, skill, and a vision that goes beyond fashion.
Eye to eye. For centuries, pearls have been a symbol of strength—worn by women like Queen Elizabeth and Michelle Obama. They grace the necks of queens, make bold style statements, and whisper stories of elegance and power.
Yet while pearls represent refinement and luxury in Western cities, in Nepal, they mean something else: hope, opportunity, and self-determination. Every Beaded Chain crafted by skilled Nepalese artisans carries a piece of economic freedom. VIU supports this craftsmanship—not as charity, but as a partnership on equal footing. Since our collaboration with Swiss jewelry label OBO began in 2023, we have produced around 3000 eyewear chains with our partners in Nepal.
For Women’s Day, VIU donates all profits to Beads for Life Nepal. The funds support programs for women and their families—flexibly and where they’re needed most. A safety fund helps in emergencies, so no woman has to take on debt. Empowerment that makes a difference.
